Construction On Schedule At Future Site Of American Revolution Museum
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Things are progressing nicely toward completion of the Museum of the American Revolution in Old City, Philadelphia.
Grand opening is still set for late 2016 or early 2017, says president and CEO Michael Quinn.
"We are on schedule with construction," he said. "The Visitor Center on the site has been completely demolished, and we're continuing to remove the foundations and are starting archeological work as well."
Archeology is necessary because the building will be at 3rd and Chestnut, deep in Colonial Philadelphia. A celebration of the start of construction is planned for October.
"Things are moving so well that we're going to be past the point of just knocking things down and doing archeology," Quinn said. "It's already starting to look like a hole in the ground and not just a building site."
