Commuters Cope With Bitter Cold As Freezing Temps Grip The Region
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Commuters on their way to work and school are coping with a bitter cold day as Arctic air blasts across the Delaware Valley.
Wednesday morning's record-low temperatures are well below freezing, and the gusty winds are making it feel like it's in the single digits in some areas.
Katie Fehlinger's frigid forecast:
"I have extra sweat pants on, an extra shirt on, plus my work shirt and my jacket and scarf," said one woman. "But I should've put something on my head, because I'm freezing."
Forecasters predict the wind will subside a bit throughout the day.
Several Code Blue weather advisories have been issued in Philadelphia, Montgomery County and Burlington County, New Jersey.
"I've been bundling up, I've been putting on extra layers, long johns, thermals," said one man on his way to work. "As soon as I get into the house I crank the heat to 80 (degrees). It's been a cold fall and it's not even winter yet."
But not everyone is bothered by the winter chill.
"It's cold, but it's beautiful. I love this weather," said another commuter. "This is lovely weather, but it's not for everybody."
Others agree, saying as long as there is no snow, the cold is not a big deal.
"There's four feet of snow up in Buffalo," said another man, "so don't complain."
Temperatures are expected to rise a bit on Thursday, before another round of cold air rolls in on Friday.
