Community Marches To End Gun Violence In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Residents and community groups marched on Saturday in West Philadelphia to call for an end to gun violence.

Dozens marched three miles along 52nd Street as part of the Hands Across Gun Violence event.

Organizers say it's important to educate young people:

"We have to get people to stand up against it – stand up against the shooting and the killing," says Tony Jackson with the NAACP – one of the groups that organized the event.

Organizers also feel it's important to teach young people skills to stop the violence before it starts.
