Cody Asche Activated

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies announced they have activated third baseman Cody Asche on Friday.

Asche has spent a month on the disabled list with a strained hamstring tendon. The third baseman, who turns 24-years-old on June 30th, batted .615 (8-13) with two doubles and three home runs in five games at Single-A (Lakewood) and Triple-A (Lehigh Valley) during a rehab stint.

The Phillies also announced on Friday that Reid Brignac was placed on the 15-day DL. Brignac had been primarily replacing Asche at third base. He had 17 hits--including a few clutch ones--in 74 plate appearances, but suffered a sprained ankle sliding into first base on Thursday night.

Also, Cliff Lee is expected to throw a bullpen session on Friday in St. Louis.
