Coastal Storm On Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A storm system will begin to develop off the mid-Atlantic coast later on Monday and will bring mostly rain to the region.  Rain will arrive from south to north late Monday night and continue on Tuesday.  The heaviest rain will fall during the morning into early afternoon on Tuesday, before the steady rain ends Tuesday night.  Temperatures on Tuesday will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s.  1-3" of rain is possible with some urban/small stream flooding possible, if we end up on the upper end of those numbers.  Some leftover rain & snow showers are possible on Wednesday with highs near 40.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Poconos late Monday night through Wednesday morning.  The Poconos could initially start as snow late Monday night, then quickly change to rain, and then end as some snow on Tuesday night.  A few inches of accumulation is possible in the Poconos on Tuesday night.

Wind around 30 mph with higher gusts are possible along the coast.  The onshore winds and full moon with bring tidal flooding potential at times of high tide on Monday and Tuesday along the coast.

The storm hasn't formed and won't until later on Monday, so the depending on how fast it forms, will determine the exact timing and precipitation amounts.
