Coast Guard Saves Diver In South Jersey

BARNEGAT LIGHT, N.J. (AP) — The Coast Guard has come to the aid of an ailing diver off the southern New Jersey coast.

Officials say a crew member aboard the Dina Dee contacted Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia around 10:45 a.m. Sunday to report that a man had been involved in a diving incident about eight miles east of Barnegat Light.

Watchstanders dispatched a 47-foot motor lifeboat crew from the guard's Barnegat Light station. The crew then brought the man back to the station where they were met by emergency medical personnel.

The man was flown to a hospital in Philadelphia. But his name and further details on his condition were not disclosed.
