Cliff Lee Not Cleared To Throw Yet, Likely To Be Reevaluated Again Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Phillies starting pitcher Cliff Lee, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left elbow strain, was reevaluated on Monday. Lee still has pain and was not cleared to throw.

"It is definitely better than it was, but [the discomfort] is still there," Lee said after the Phillies win on Monday. They decided to let me wait [until] I have no symptoms to start throwing."

Phillies general manager, Ruben Amaro Jr., joined the WIP Morning Show on Tuesday and explained the Phillies do no want to rush Lee.

"There's no reason for us to start him throwing if we think it is going to risk something more serious, or at least damage the tendinitis situation even worse," Amaro Jr. said. "We'll reevaluate him again I guess on Wednesday and see whether he is OK to start throwing and hopefully that will be the point he starts throwing."
