Cleanup Continues After Storms Rip Through Delaware County

BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (CBS) -- Cleanup crews continued work late Wednesday evening in Delaware County.

Officials told Eyewitness News about 50,000 homes were still without power as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.

"We are concerned with the public's well-being," Delaware County Councilman Mario Civera said.

Civera joined dozens of residents at the Brookhaven Town Hall, where they sat and waited. The building is now a 24-hour shelter for residents without power.

"We had nowhere else to go," April Sycz said.

Ed Houtmann spent most of his day picking up tree limbs. He lives in Chester Heights and his street saw some of the worst damage in the area.

"Nobody got hurt. That's the big deal in my mind," Houtmann said.

Civera told Eyewitness News he expects power to be restored Friday evening for the rest of Delaware County.
