You Can 'Claim Your Face' At The Palm
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An iconic Center City restaurant -- closed for renovations -- is offering a piece of the walls to its special customers before for demolition.
More than 2,000 caricature faces of entertainers, broadcasters, athletes, business executives and politicians adorn the walls of The Palm at the Bellevue.
The restaurant opened 1989 and is temporarily closed for renovations in February. Demolition of the walls is about to begin, but the artwork is being offered to those who inspired.
"Unfortunately some of them passed away and some are in jail," former Pennsylvania mayor and governor Ed Rendell joked.
His face was the first to be cut out of the wall. He was a regular at the restaurant.
Jeff Phillips, The Palm's chief operating officer, presented Rendell with the art inside the restaurant on Friday.
"I like to present to you, Ed, this letter of authenticity along with your caricature right off the wall," Phillips said. "Number one!"
