Christmas Village Moves To New Location For Holiday Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's been a source for unique holiday gifts for eight years, but changes are coming to Philadelphia's Christmas Village.

The Christmas Village is moving to a new location for the 2016 holiday season.

Organizer Timo Kargus said the move makes sense for business.

"Due to the reconstruction of LOVE Park we are moving to City Hall, so we are going right into the center of the city this year."

Kargus said they're excited to have their 80 merchants in the heart of the Center City shopping district and they hope even more people will check out the variety of international items available.

"Bringing vendors from Egypt with ornaments, vendors from Germany, bringing wood carvings and nice decoration for the Christmas time."

People can also sample international cuisine.

The Village opens on Thanksgiving and runs rain or shine through Christmas Eve.
