Christie: 'What Makes Me Shady? Because I'm From NJ? I Can't Change That'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Town hall meetings in New Hampshire are paying off for Chris Christie in his race for the White House.

A CBS News battleground tracker poll shows the New Jersey governor's support has doubled to 11 percent in the past month.

During a town meeting, Christie responded to a question about how he could convince voters he's not "shady."

"What makes me shady? Because I'm from New Jersey?" Christie asked laughing.

"Well, hell, I can't change that! It's hard for me to answer that because I don't think I'm shady, right?"

Christie also said he is not going to change just to get votes.
