Christie Poll Numbers Are Down Again

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (CBS) -- Another New Jersey poll shows Governor Chris Christie's popularity among voters taking a hit.
Christie's favorability is at 26% in the Rutgers-Eagleton poll, down three points from the last survey two months ago.
"Governor Christie is at the lowest for him," pollster Ashley Koning told KYW Newsradio. "That's particularly important seeing as how just a few years ago he was at highs in the 60s or 70s."
The Governor's best numbers come from members of his own party. But even there, he dropped 7 points to 56% support.
"Republicans are not going for Christie right now as much as they used to," she said, "and nowhere near the nearly unanimous support they would have given him about two years or so ago."
63% of independents view Christie negatively along with 87% of Democrats. Koning says voters are making that judgment based on several issues, from character and honesty to his policy decisions.
Only 6% suggest their feelings stem from Christie's unsuccessful bid for President or his subsequent support of Donald Trump.
His job approval rate is also down a half dozen points to 31%. That reflects on the overall direction voters see New Jersey going in: 31% on the right track as opposed to 60% on the wrong track. That latter number has stayed fairly constant for the last year.
It should be noted here that Christie has consistently said he could care less about polls on him, good or bad.
