Christie Due In Camden For School Announcement

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Governor Chris Christie is heading to Camden again, this time to make an announcement about school construction projects.

Critics have said the governor hasn't done enough to replace aging school buildings in cities since he took office nearly five years ago.

More than a decade ago, the state Supreme Court ordered New Jersey to bring school buildings in the state's poorest cities up to date.

Christie has made frequent appearances at schools in Camden, which is among the nation's most impoverished cities. He often cites the political co-operation in Camden, which has a state-appointed school superintendent.

That's in contrast with Newark, where Christie's appointed school leaders is often met with protest.
