Chris Stigall: I'm Done Defending Donald Trump

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Chris Stigall expressed his outrage after Donald Trump said women should be punished if they have an abortion in response to a question at a town hall meeting.

Stigall, on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said Trump is embarrassing Republicans and he is done trying to defend him.

"I don't know about you, but I'd like to win a presidential election and for two days our front-runner now has had me discussing the definition of assaulting women and whether or not women should be jailed for having abortions. Please Trump people, spare me you sanctimony. This man is a liability to himself, the party and our, otherwise, easily won election this Fall. I am not going to entertain this stupidity anymore. I've had it. If other talk hosts want to entertain it, so be it. I am done coddling. I am done fence straddling. I am done placating Trump people. It's over. This man is political hazard the likes of which we've never seen. I don't know who he is. I don't know where he comes from. I don't know what he believes, but every time he opens his mouth and he's pressed on what he believes, I hate it. I hate what comes out of his mouth. It embarrasses me that he's the front-runner. I cannot and will not defend it."

He said Trump has no real position on issues and he is not the serious candidate the country needs.

"I don't want a guy that's an idiot. I don't think that harnesses and channels our anger into idiocy. I want somebody that's thoughtful. I want somebody that takes our righteous anger and indignation about the direction this country's going. Then, with an articulate, clearly thought out campaign and message, go to Washington and do the work. My little sister could run a better campaign and answer a question like that better than he did. That's an embarrassment. I will not defend it. Go ahead and try if you want, but I won't do it."
