Chris Christie To Pay His Own Way To Cowboys Against Packers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chris Christie has not gained a ton of favor with the Giants and Eagles fans that make up much of his state. With that said, the Governor of New Jersey has remained devoted to his beloved Cowboys and will once again be in the box to root them on when the face the Packers this weekend in Green Bay.

Christie faced some lighthearted scrutiny for being a Cowboys fan in a state comprised of two of the Cowboys' most bitter rivals. However, the scrutiny took a somewhat serious tone when the governor's office revealed that Jerry Jones had provided Christie with tickets to several Cowboys games and also took care of transportation.

In response, Christie's office announced on Friday that the governor will pay his own way to Green Bay.

"Not wanting to risk breaking the team's 5-0 streak by messing with karma, Governor Christie, his orange sweater and his son Andrew will all travel to Lambeau Field this weekend to attend the game," Michael Drewniak, Christie spokeperson, said on Friday.

It has been established that ethics rules in the state of New Jersey do allow for governors to accept gifts from family and friends. Christie has described Jones as a friend of his that has developed in recent years.
