Jake's Sandwich Board: Chocolate-Covered Bacon, $5

The first – but certainly not the last – I'll try of this concoction of two of man's greatest achievements in food. Sweet and savory is the trend, so what goes better together than cocoa and back fat?

Jake's is an excellent sandwich joint, kind of moonlighting here by dipping its extra bacon into a vat of dark, bitter chocolate. Personal taste here, but I've always eschewed overly sweet milk chocolate for the dark and semisweet. You may feel otherwise.

So who complains about too much chocolate? Me, I guess. While this was a great way to end a bacon-loaded lunch (we had the Turbacon sandwich first), the chocolate-to-bacon ratio seemed a bit off. Small strips of bacon smothered in mounds of high-end chocolate. Like sex or pizza, it's impossible to find bad bacon-chocolate. But I suspect I'll better in my search.
