Chip Kelly: 'I'm Excited' About Sam Bradford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Sam Bradford won over a lot of Eagles fans on his 28th birthday.

In a near must-win situation, Bradford impressively completed 25 of 36 passes for 295 yards, one touchdown, and no turnovers, leading his team to a 33-27 overtime win over the Cowboys on Sunday night.

Despite a bumpy start to his tenure in Philadelphia, Bradford has always had the confidence of his head coach. Kelly, who traded for Bradford this offseason, admitted he saw a little extra in his quarterback Sunday night.

"I think Sam has improved all year on a weekly basis as he's gotten more comfortable in terms of what we're doing, gotten more comfortable with the players he's playing with, gotten more comfortable I think with himself," Kelly said Monday on the 94WIP Morning Show. "I've seen improvement from Sam every week and I'm excited. I think his second half, I think he maybe had two incompletions. It's the Sam that I've seen. He's extremely accurate throwing the football, he stands in there, he's tough. I'm just really happy with how Sam played."

For the ninth and final time of the night, Bradford connected with second year wideout Jordan Matthews---who had also been struggling---for a 41-yard walk-off game-winning touchdown.

Seconds before the play, in the huddle, Bradford had a message for Matthews.

"Hey, I'm coming to you. Win right here."

And that's exactly what happened.

"Play action pass. We felt like we were running the ball fairly well," Kelly explained. "Jordan was running a deep crossing route. He started going one way and then broke back across. We had hit in the first half against them and Jordan ran the ball down to the five-ish, I think around the five. We scored the next play on a sweep play. We had already called it once in the game and it was really successful for us and I felt like when we got the ball over midfield we were gonna get back to it and we did get back to it."

Both Bradford and Matthews had their best respective games of the season to this point, and the 4-4 Eagles hope to build off of their emotional win over the Cowboys. The Eagles will host the Dolphins next Sunday, as five of their final eight games will be played at Lincoln Financial Field.
