Police: 2 Suspects Fatally Shot Teen Boy At Takeout Restaurant Over Wisecrack

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police have arrested two suspects in the shooting death of a teenage boy at a Chinese restaurant in North Philadelphia.

Police arrested 18-year-old Christopher Southerland and 19-year-old Tymear Johnson in the shooting death of 13-year-old Khisser Davis-Papther.

"I hope they get death penalty," said Vanessa Hargrove, Khisser's grandmother. "I hope they kill their (expletive). I hope they die, too. I hope they die. I hope their mothers feel what we feel."

Hargrove buried her grandson two weeks ago.

Police say Khisser, an eighth grader at Harding Middle School, was shot once in the back of the head at point blank range

He had been eating at a Nicetown takeout restaurant on March 10 when police say Johnson, 19, said nothing and pulled the trigger.

"Shot in the head. When they said he was shot in the head, I thought they was lying," Hargrove said.

She added, "He ain't doing anything -- that's execution."

Johnson was arrested Sunday.

Police last month also charged Southerland, whom they say was with Johnson when the shot was fired.

"I was praying for it," Essie Davis, Khisser's great grandmother, said of the arrest. "And something happened. The lord answered a prayer."

Investigators say a wisecrack sparked the violence.

"I saw the video," Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clarke said. "I've been in homicide nine years. It's one of the saddest videos you'll see."

The heartrending emotion inside Khisser's home weaved from anger to despair. The lives of all involved now in pieces.

"They're not even thinking. They didn't even think about their own parents, because their mothers are gonna suffer too," Hargrove said. "We're not the only ones hurt. Their parents are going to be hurt."

Southerland and Johnson have been charged with murder, criminal conspiracy and other related offenses.
