Chinese Food Store Employee Beaten During Robbery In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are searching for a suspect who robbed and beat a Chinese food store employee in West Philadelphia.

On May 26 around 4:38 a.m., a male reportedly entered an apartment above the Eagle's Corner Chinese store on the 6200 block of Spruce Street.

Once inside, the suspect used a blunt object to beat a 48-year-old employee, who was asleep.

The suspect then went into the store and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing.

That suspect is described as a black male about 20 years old who was wearing a zip-up hooded jacket with the Nike logo on the upper left chest and cargo pants.

The victim is currently in guarded condition at Presbyterian Hospital.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police.
