Chili's Cancels Fundraiser With Group That Believes Autism Is Caused By Vaccinations

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Chili's restaurants have decided to cancel a scheduled fundraiser with a group that believes autism is caused by vaccinations. The cancellation was prompted by customer feedback and a heated debate on the chain's social media page.

Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at Nemours and Thomas Jefferson University Dr. Jay Greenspan says he is not surprised by the outcry.

"You know there is a lot of controversies in parenting but vaccines are not one of the controversies, and parents now know, I think, for the most part that all children should be vaccinated on a regular schedule and so should adults." Greenspan says that while they know much more about autism and the forms autism, physicians are still puzzled as to what causes it.

"There is no real firm bow around this that we can say 'you are at risk, you are not at risk.' Everyone is at risk and that is the problem. There is a lot of fear as to whether your child your family will be impacted."
