Children Visiting Philly's Historical District Can Dress Like A Colonial During Tour

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Kids are learning about history in a fashionable way. A new program in Philadelphia's historic district allows children to wear colonial costumes as they tour the sites.
Eleven-year-old Matt Schick of Bridesburg was dressed in a Colonial costume. He joined in a military muster where re-enactors drill kids in marching and musket etiquette. He says the costume is pretty cool.
"It makes you feel like you are a part of history and you want to learn more about it."
"Colonial For A Day" allows kids ages four to 12 to wear a costume that can be rented for the day for $24.95.
Amy Needle, president and CEO of Historic Philadelphia says, "Along with your rental comes a colonial map to help you guide your experience, and with all the free programming that Historic Philadelphia has throughout the summer, it's just a great way to immerse yourself into the history."
Costumes can be rented at the Historic Philadelphia center at 6th and Chestnut Streets.
