Children Escape Unharmed When School Bus, Car Collide In South Jersey

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a car and a school bus carrying several children collided on a southern New Jersey roadway, but no injuries were reported.

The accident occurred shortly before 8:20 a.m. Sunday on West County Line Road in Lakewood.

The crash sparked a fire that severely damaged the car, but it was soon extinguished. Authorities say all the children on the bus got out of the vehicle unharmed.

The road way was closed for about 40 minutes while the crash scene was cleared. But no major travel issues were reported.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

It wasn't immediately clear how many children were on the bus or where it was headed.
