Boy Not Struck By Lightning In Bethlehem, Instead Fell From Bike During Storm, Police Confirm

UPDATE: On Monday, July 22, Bethlehem Police Department clarified that the boy was not struck by lightning but fell off his bike after a loud thunder crack and lightning. You can read the original post below. 


BETHLEHEM, Pa. (CBS/AP) -- Authorities say a young boy was struck and injured by lightning in Bethlehem as severe weather roared through Pennsylvania. The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. The child, who is between the ages of 5 and 6, was struck around 9:20 p.m. on the 800 block of Argus Court on Sunday.

Authorities say he was conscious when emergency responders arrived and was being treated at St. Luke's University Hospital Bethlehem, but his name and further details on his condition were not disclosed.

The lightning strike came as severe storms struck the state on Sunday.
