Pennsylvania State Police investigating fiery I-95 crash that injured 3 Chester officers

CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) -- An early-morning traffic stop on Interstate 95 southbound Saturday turned into a fiery multi-vehicle crash, leaving three Chester police officers injured. 

Police say the officers were conducting a traffic stop on I-95 southbound for a motor vehicle violation at around 3 a.m. near the exit to the Commodore Barry Bridge.

Investigators say a car passing by then crashed into the back of one of the police cars, while the officers were outside of their vehicles, causing the car to catch fire. 

Officials say three Chester police officers were injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance. The officers suffered minor injuries and are expected to recover.

The accident is currently being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
