Chester County To Post Speed Limit Markers On Some Of Its Trails

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chester County is posting speed limit markers in parks and on trails as a reminder to cyclists to slow it down.
All parks in Chester County have a 15-mile per hour speed limit for cars and bikes. But regional parks superintendent Owen Prusack says they decided to post reminders of those speed limits on the Chester Valley Trail and the Struble Trail.
"Bicycle dog collisions, we've had bicycle to bicycle collisions and we actually had a one unfortunate auto bicycle collision where the bicycle actually ran into a passing vehicle not heeding a stop sign," said Prusack.
The speed limit is posted on the trial rules and etiquette signs, but Prusack says it will be painted on the trail, along with directional arrows to remind users to keep to the right. The point, he says isn't to single out bike riders.
"We're just really trying to get people aware of each other and have some respect for others using the trail," said Prusack.
