Chester County Residents Stock Up On Supplies, Recharge Batteries At Grocery Store

MALVERN, Pa. (CBS) -- It could take days before full power is restored to residents in the area knocked off line yesterday due to the weather.

One of the hardest hit areas was Chester County. Some of the residents who lost electricity visited a market in Malvern, not only shopping, but also to plug in.

Customers of Wegmans in Malvern were buying batteries, candles and firewood. Prepared food was also very popular. Perahable items were also being purchased.

Stephen Mandato picked up a few things.

"It doesn't matter what you buy, you just stick it outside and put it in the cooler and you'll be fine," he said. "I have propane cooking, so I can just light a match and cook my sausage."

Wegman's also allowed those with out power to charge their lap tops and cell phones at electrical outlets in dining areas and employee break rooms.
