Chester County Man Waives Preliminary Hearing On Molestation Charges

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. (CBS) -- Molestation charges against a 60-year-old man from Paoli will head to Delaware County Court, as he waived his preliminary hearing today.

The waiver comes in exchange for one of the more serious charges against him being dropped.

Prosecutor Michael Galantino says they're withdrawing a first degree felony charge of Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse against 60-year-old Charles Robinson.

"We were comfortable withdrawing that charge in exchange for an agreement to waive his preliminary hearing on the remaining charges."

Seven charges including multiple felonies. Galantino says the waiver spares the victim an appearance before the court.

"The victim was in an office, kept away from the courtroom, was prepared to testify though as you can imagine, the victim was somewhat anxious and hoped that didn't come to pass."

He says they're offering a plea deal of 1-2 years in county prison, followed by 5-years probation and a lifetime of registering under Megan's Law.

Robinson is accused of going into a family member's bedroom over the course of several years, touching the victim while fondling himself.

His attorney declined to comment at this time.
