Chesco Man Gets Long Prison Term For Decades-Old Child Abuse

DEVON, Pa. (CBS) -- A Chester County lawyer is going to prison for child molestation.

Lawrence Carroll, 46, of Devon, Pa., was charged a year ago with abusing a child between 1990 and 1995 inside a home he owned at the time in Tredyffrin Township.

He pleaded guilty, and today was sentenced to 12 to 24 years in prison.

"This sentence of more than a decade in state prison shows how seriously his crimes will be treated in Chester County," said Michael Noone, the first assistant DA in Chester County, afterward.

The victim, who was six years old when the abuse began, stepped forward as an adult to make the accusation, and state law allows for prosecution in matters like this even after such a long period of time.
