Chemical Release Takes Place At Refinery In Delaware City

DELAWARE CITY, D.E. (CBS) -- A chemical leak occurred at a refinery in Delaware City, on Friday. The refinery reported that no offsite areas were impacted by the release.

Workers in the area of the release were evacuated.

New Castle County paramedics were dispatched to the refinery located at 4550 Wrangle Hill Road to respond to the workers that might have come in contact with the chemical.

Paramedics transported two of the three workers to Christiana Hospital for evaluation. Symptoms of the two workers included headache, dizziness, weakness and lethargy according to officials. Both were listed in stable condition.

The third worker was also taken to Christiana Hospital as a precaution according to authorities.

All workers sent to the hospital have been released.

One week ago a fire occurred at the same refinery, damaging a structure. No injuries were reported during that incident.
