Chad Ford Says One NBA GM Compared Dante Exum To Kobe Bryant

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Would the Sixers really want to trade the reigning NBA rookie of the year in Michael Carter-Williams? What if they can trade MCW for a third top-ten pick--in addition to the third and 10th overall picks-- and draft a point guard who is more than three years younger, and potentially better? Is that something you might be interested in?

ESPN insider Chad Ford joined Bill Simmons on the BS Report on Tuesday and said one general manager compared the Exum to Kobe Bryant.

"One general manager said he reminds me, he's the closest that I've seen to a young Kobe Bryant," Ford told Simmons.

Simmons asked Ford to describe Exum, who played in Australia, to the world.

"Six [foot], six [inches], six-nine wingspan, quickest athlete in the draft," Ford said. "Gets to the basket, has the killer instinct, needs to learn how to shoot, has the right of the game. He's tested off the charts [physiologically] and then when you add an NBA type frame--he's got great size for his position and he's got NBA level athleticism at least in speed and quickness--he's not an explosive leaper. He's an OK leaper, he's not going to jump out the gym, but where it matters most--side to side and quickness, those guys tend to not fail in the NBA. I think, frankly, that's who the Bucks should take at two. I think he's going to be a stud."

Ford also said the Sixers, who are reportedly interested in Exum, have watched a ton of his games on tape.

"They have limited information," Ford explained. "They have the under-19, they have the Nike Hoops Summit, and they have the practices. You can watch his high school games--I know the Philadelphia 76ers got 36 of his games because their head coach used to work in Australia and they released 36 of games."
