Police: Multiple Elementary Students Sickened After Ingesting Cereal Bars Possibly Laced With Marijuana

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Multiple kids were sickened at a Philadelphia elementary school after police say they ingested cereal bars possibly laced with marijuana.
It happened Wednesday at the Blankenburg Elementary School located in the 4600 block of W. Girard Ave.
Police say five kids ingested the cereal bars that were brought to school by a 13-year-old student. One student went to the nurse's office hallucinating. Other kids were brought to the school office.

Three students were transported to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where two students tested positive for marijuana, police say. Testing results for the third student is still pending.
The parents of two other students were reportedly taking their child to their medical provider, said police.
The school released this statement regarding the incident:
Dear Parent /Guardian:
This letter is to inform you of an incident that occurred at Rudolph Blankenburg Elementary School On October 24, 2018, an illegal substance was found in the possession of one of our scholars/on campus.
Upon discovering the substance, we notified School District of Philadelphia Police, as well as The Philadelphia Police Department. As a result, officers from both units came to our school to investigate the situation.
An illegal substance on campus is a serious concern to all of us. Incidents with the potential to compromise the health or safety of students and staff are taken very seriously and will be dealt with according to district policy.
I encourage you to discuss this incident with your child and emphasize the importance of telling an adult staff member if they see or hear about an illegal substance at school.
