Center City Street Becomes Pop Up Picnic To Celebrate Philadelphia Flower Show

PHILADLEPHIA (CBS) -- The prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show starts next weekend at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

A nearby street was transformed into a picnic site on Saturday to get folks excited about Spring, horticulture, and the show.

A portion of Filbert Street near 12th Street was covered in sod.

Flowers, picnic tables, and games were brought in to make the space feel more like a park than a city street.

There was a long line at a table where you could make fresh flower head pieces.

"We made beautiful flower crowns that are just celebrating Spring, and I think they are a great accessory to our Winter outfits to bring in the Spring weather," said one attendee.

The Philadelphia Flower Show will take place at the Convention Center March 5th through March 13th, where this year's show will celebrate National Parks.
