Cellphone Video Captures 4-Alarm Blaze At Howard Johnson Hotel In Blackwood

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) - Cellphone video captured flames racing through a Camden County hotel overnight. The four-alarm fire broke out at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham on the Black Horse Pike in Blackwood, around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire crews from throughout Gloucester and Camden Counties responded to the scene. It took them two hours to get the fire under control.

Drone Watch 3 flew over the hotel after the fire was put out. The top floor of the hotel was gutted.

The motel is made up of three buildings. Two of those three buildings have fire damage. Authorities tell Eyewitness News at least 15 units caught on fire.

Eyewitness News spoke to a guest who escaped. She says she was staying in an unaffected part of the hotel.

"I was staying in room 224," Gianna Bruszzese said. "I grabbed some stuff and left."

No one was injured but several residents were displaced. It's not clear how many people were staying there.

The American Red Cross is helping guests who were displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

CBS3's Howard Monroe contributed to this report.
