Celek Admits He Was One Injury Away From Playing On O-Line
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- When Eagles offensive lineman Evan Mathis and Allen Barbre both left the game on Sunday due to injury, the Eagles were down to only five offensive lineman. Meaning, one more injury to the o-line and the Eagles would be forced to use a non-offensive lineman to protect quarterback Nick Foles.
"I think I would have had to have gone in there," Brent Celek to Michael Barkann and Ike Reese on the 94WIP MIke & Ike Show. "I mean don't think we have anybody else. So yeah, I probably would have went in there."

What about a defensive lineman, like maybe, Beau Allen?
"The problem is those guys don't know any of the calls," Celek explained. "From a communication standpoint I know the calls and know what I am supposed to do. I can at least turn to the guard and ask, 'Hey what do I got?'"
As it turned out, the Eagles did not lose a third offensive lineman, thankfully, and Celek was able to continue playing tight end. The Eagles, after trailing 17-0 at halftime, fought back to win 34-17.
"A win is a win and we're glad we got the win, but it was pretty ugly," Celek said. "After watching the film, there were a lot of things we could have done better."
Nick Foles committed three turnovers in the first half before turning it around and leading his team to a double-digit victory. Foles' only interception of the game came on a touch pass to Celek in the back of the end zone.
"Well I thought I was going to score," Celek said of Foles' interception. "Looking back on it, on the film, maybe I could have come back and make a play on it, help the quarterback out a little bit."
