Celebration In Old City Has Everyone Screaming Ice Cream

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - For the past decade, Franklin Fountain in the heart of Old City in Philadelphia has served up ice cream and old-time snacks to patrons looking to satisfy their sweet tooth.

On Saturday, the ice cream shop that's quickly become a local favorite hosted a big bash to celebrate its ten-year anniversary

Folks who spoke with KYW Newsradio were all enjoying their favorite flavors:

"Chocolate and vanilla."

"I like their cherry bomb. That's chocolate ice cream with cherry soda."

"I like their peach parfait."

"This is just chocolate."

Co-owner Ryan Burly says hosting this celebration is a way for them to show their appreciation to the customers who inspire them to keep churning out the ice cream:

"There's music throughout the day. There's antique displays of old ice cream memorabilia that we've collected over the years. Ice cream waffle sandwiches, hot waffles with cold ice cream in between, we have tours of Shane Candies -- the oldest candy store in America."

Also on hand was Besy -- a cow who took part in a milking demonstration.
