CBS 3 Pet Project: See Inside The Pennsylvania SPCA

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania SPCA is a great local option if you're thinking about rescuing a dog or cat.

Just inside their headquarters on Erie Avenue, you'll find a big welcome desk where people can be directed to the adoptable animals.

It always helps to talk with the adoption counselor who is familiar with the animals and will give you a better idea of compatibility, based on what kind of family dynamic you have like whether there are small children in the household.

You can also meet your prospective pet outside and get to know them in a space where they're able to run around a little.

The PSPCA is open Saturdays and Sundays noon to 6 p.m. and weekdays 1-8 p.m.
