CBS 3 Delivers Special Meal To Family In Need

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, CBS 3 came together to surprise a deserving family.

The food was provided by some restaurants in the area and hand-delivered by CBS 3's Vittoria Woodill.

Jeannine Marshall is a single mother raising three girls in Northeast Philadelphia. She says a meal has never meant so much:

"You're not just feeding my stomach, you're feeding my heart, my soul, you're helping me be a better mom. You're helping me be a better person and I'm thankful for that."

Like most single moms, Jeannine has endured a lot these last couple of years, including losing her job.

But that never meant losing hope. She reached out to the Salvation Army for assistance to keep a special promise to her children:

"Mommy's going to take care of you, mommy's going to be here for you."

So three local restaurants donated their cooking skills for a family Thanksgiving: A turkey from Jack's Firehouse in Fairmount, sides from Constellation Collective in Collingswood, and dessert from Brown Betty Dessert Boutique in Northern Liberties.

As the saying goes, we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Give thanks for a little, and you will have a lot.
