Caught On Tape: Suspect Violently Attacks Man, 83, Inside Philly Bar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for the thug who was caught on tape punching an elderly man inside a bar in Philadelphia.

The attack happened at about 1:20 p.m. on Monday at Brownie's Lounge located at 7137 Ogontz Avenue in the city's West Oak Lane section.

According to investigators, the suspect, who was carrying a clipboard and handbag, knocked on the front door of the establishment and said he was a trash inspector.

After several minutes inside, the suspect suddenly punched the victim, an 83-year-old man, in the face, knocking him to the ground.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and demanded money, a cell phone and a Masonic ring from the victim. The suspect then handcuffed the victim to a railing inside the bar.

The suspect attempted to gain access to the cash register, but he was unsuccessful.

After the suspect took the victim outside to gain access to the second floor stairs, the victim began to scream for help, causing the suspect to run away.

The suspect is described as black male, 35-45 years-of-age, approximately 6'5" with a light beard/stubble, dark complected and thin build. He was wearing thin-rimmed black glasses, a long black coat, a dark-colored Jeff hat, dark-colored pants and dark-colored shoes.
