Caught On Camera: Suspect Strikes Employee With Baseball Bat During 7-Eleven Robbery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a worker was struck in the head with a baseball bat during a robbery of a 7-Eleven in Port Richmond.

The incident was captured on surveillance video.

 

Police say around 11 p.m. Wednesday night, a Hispanic male entered the store on the 3300 block of Aramingo Avenue and immediately went behind the counter, struck the employee with a screwdriver and demanded money.

When the worker attempted to defend himself with a baseball bat he retrieved from under the counter, the suspect grabbed the bat and hit the employee in the head.

Police say the suspect took two packs of Newport cigarettes then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim suffered head lacerations during the incident.

Authorities describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, in his late 30s, 5'6" to 5'9", 170 to 180 pounds, with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark short sleeve shirt with a red, white and blue emblem on the front, blue jeans and red sneakers.
