PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the union representing 600 Catholic high school teachers in Philadelphia have reached agreement on a new two-year contract.
Officials say the agreement means classes will start as scheduled Wednesday for some 11,000 students at 17 high schools.
Earlier today, the Secondary School System of Archdiocese Phila. & the Association of Catholic School Teachers, Local 1776 (ACT) reached a 2-year agreement for a new contract for full-time, lay high school teachers in the 17 Archdiocesan high schools. https://t.co/7V5BpNFPxT

The previous contract expired last week, and the two sides were negotiating during the Labor Day weekend.
The teachers had been working on one-year contracts since a 2011 impasse led to a two-week strike.
