Cat Helps Police Catch Lancaster County Fugitive

EPHRATA, Pa. (CBS) -- A black cat helped authorities in Lancaster County capture a fugitive wanted for an outstanding bench warrant.

Police say 23-year-old Jonathan Michael Steffy, of Ephrata, was located last Monday night in the backyard of a residence on Duke Street.

According to officials, Steffy ran from police and a perimeter was set up to help the search.

Authorities say one of the officers noticed a black cat in a backyard, crouched and watching something intently near a shed on the property. The officer checked behind the shed, but found nothing. Officials say the officer then followed the cat's gaze and figured out the animal was looking past him towards another shed in the distance.
