Carrie Underwood Surprises Military Family During Stop In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Carrie Underwood hit the stage on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center. Before she started her performance, she made the night a very special one for one family.
Backstage at the Wells Fargo Center, Underwood warmed the hearts of a military family from Bucks County.
Underwood surprised John and Cara Martin and their two girls before the concert, also giving them a free trip on a cruise in the fall where she'll perform in a private concert for 1,000 military members courtesy of Carnival and Operation Homefront.
"I've been able to sing songs like 'See You Again,' where people are like 'man, my husband just left' or just came back or whatever, and that song means a lot." Underwood said.
John has done three tours of duty overseas and after ten years, the couple still has not taken their honeymoon yet.
"It brings tears to my eyes," Cara said.
For the little girls, it was certainly a night to remember.
Philadelphia is the first of ten stops along Underwood's tour where she'll personally meet military families and thank them for their service.
