Police Searching For 2nd Suspect Involved In Robbery, Carjacking In East Germantown

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are searching for a second suspect involved in a robbery and carjacking at an East Germantown gas station. Officials say a 50-year-old man was purchasing items at a gas station convenience store on Wayne and Berkley Avenues around 3 a.m. when two men approached him.

The victim told police one suspect had a gun and demanded he give them his keys and phone. The victim handed the items over and the suspects took off in his vehicle.

Police had a description of the vehicle and spotted it on the 5000 block of Germantown Avenue. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects lost control and crashed near Germantown Avenue and Logan Street.

The suspects fled the scene on foot but one was apprehended and taken into custody.

The other suspect fled to the back of a home on Wyenva Street. Officers secured the property and called SWAT officers to the scene.

SWAT officers cleared the house and found no one was inside the home except for a dog.

The victim identified the man in custody as the suspect who had a gun.

The second suspect is still on the loose.
