1 Dead After Car Strikes Utility Pole In Bucks County, Forces Road Closure

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) -- One person was killed in a single-car crash in Bensalem, Bucks County early Thursday.

Authorities say a car struck a utility pole near the intersection of Street Road and Mechanicsville Road around 2:30 a.m.

Investigators say a red Ford Mustang was traveling south on Mechanicsville Road when it crossed over into the northbound lanes in an attempt to pass another vehicle. The driver of the car lost control while attempting to get back into the southbound lane, left the roadway and hit a utility pole.

Thirty-year-old Bryan Husted, of Bensalem, was killed in the accident. Preliminary investigation reveals speed and alcohol might have been a factor in the crash.

Mechanicsville Road is currently closed between Street Road and Century Lane, and there are reports of downed power wires. A PECO crew has been dispatched to make repairs.
