2 Philly Cops Hurt In Crash Driving Shooting Victim To ER

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two Philadelphia Police officers were hurt in a car accident in North Philadelphia early Wednesday morning.

Around 3 a.m., two officers in a squad car responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of North Hollywood Street.

When the officers arrived to the scene, they found a 24-year-old victim suffering from three gunshot wounds. The officers put the victim in their squad car, intending on transporting him to Temple University Hospital.

On the way to the hospital, the officers were involved in a three-car accident at 25th Street and Lehigh Avenue.

Police say the squad car collided with a Lexus. After that collision, the police car crashed with a Camaro, pictured below.

The accident caused extensive damage to the squad car and the other two vehicles.

All three occupants of the police car (two police officers and the victim they were transporting) were taken to Temple Hospital for treatment.

Police say one of the officers suffered a cut to the head and a possible concussion. All of the victims of the crash are reported to be in stable condition.

There were two civilian vehicles involved in the accident. Police say neither of those drivers were licensed.

This incident is under investigation.
