Camden Officials Announce New Community Benefit Agreement Between Renaissance Schools, Neighborhoods

CAMDEN, N.J., (CBS) -- Officials in Camden have announced a new community benefit agreement between Camden renaissance schools and community groups designed to support residents across the city.

Under the agreement, Camden's three renaissance schools have committed to expanding the programs offered to area residents. Mayor Dana Redd says community plays a crucial role in the success of any school.

"Our renaissance school partners will be offering family programming, financial literacy programs, cancer screenings, providing access to gyms for neighborhood events, committing additional resources and giving Camden residents preference for jobs and contracts," said Mayor Redd.

Officials say this is not a cure for all the city's issues, but rather, a step in the right direction.
