Camden County Police Celebrate 'Take Your Child To Work Day'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was take your child to work day at the Camden County Police Department on Thursday, where a first-ever specially organized day was set up for the children of employees.

Department employee Patti Nicholson helped organize a day of fun to show her coworkers' children what goes on at the Camden County Police Department.

"The K9 demonstration, the Skywatch command vehicle, our Polaris, lunch with the officers, and then we're gonna head to the waterfront marina to watch the Sheriff's Department put on a demonstration with their SWAT team," said Nicholson, describing the day's schedule.

"It's fun and I love learning about dogs and what police do and how they catch criminals," said 9-year-old Alyssa.

Meanwhile, 11-year-old Luis said his favorite part was the police cars.

Both were part of a group of about 50 kids participating in 'Take Your Child To Work Day.'

Nicholson a day like this makes her coworkers more human.

"It's really neat to see how they interact with their children, and to see what their children look like," she said.

Meanwhile, Maria Velez me she got a kick out of seeing her coworkers' children.

"It makes it more family oriented and you know, you feel more connected to your coworkers. It's really nice," said Velez.
