Bus Driver Arrested For Indecent Contact With Special Needs Students
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A Bucks County school bus driver is accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl and a 22-year-old woman, both special needs students at the Vanguard School in Chester County.
Prosecutors say 74-year-old James McIntyre faces multiple charges, including institutional sexual assault and indecent exposure.
McIntyre, a driver for the Pennridge School District, allegedly touched both victims inappropriately on multiple occasions throughout a six-year span beginning in 2009. Authorities say the incidents occurred while the victims were driven to and from their school in a school district van.
McIntyre is also accused of exposing himself and making the victims touch him inappropriately. Investigators say the acts occurred in Montgomery County while the van was stopped at traffic lights.
Pennridge School District Superintendent Jacqueline Rattigan said McIntyre, who's been employed with the school district since 2002, has been suspended without pay and is banned from school property while the investigation continues.
"We will be in contact with the families of students involved and will provide all necessary resources," Rattigan said in a statement. "The District will cooperate fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues."
McIntyre was arraigned in a Montgomery County court and is being held on $75,000 bail. His next hearing is scheduled for February 9th.
