Burnett Hints At Retirement, Will "Probably Not" Pitch Next Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Following the Phillies 5-2 loss to the Marines on Tuesday night, starting pitcher A.J. Burnett was asked if he plans on returning next season.

"Probably not," said Burnett. "We'll see."

Burnett, 37, lost his fifth straight decision on Tuesday, falling to 6-14 on the season with a 4.42 ERA. His 76 walks leads all Major League pitchers. Burnett has a player option for the 2015 season worth over $12 million.

"It's been a rough stretch, but I still come in and try to do my job," Burnett said.
