14 students injured after school bus collides with truck in Burlington County

MEDFORD, N.J. (CBS) -- Fourteen students were taken to the hospital after a school bus and a pickup truck collided in Medford, police said. 

The Medford Township Police Department and Medford Fire & EMS responded to the scene just after 2:50 p.m. 

Burlington County officials said a school bus and a pickup truck collided at the intersection of Hawkin and Skeet roads Tuesday afternoon. 

After further investigation, Medford police determined the crash happened as a school bus driver was trying to turn left from Hawkin Road onto Skeet Road, while a utility bucket truck was traveling south on Skeet Road. 

Three students were released to their parents at the scene of the crash and taken to the hospital after saying they were in pain. 

Ten more students were taken to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly for non-threatening injuries, police said. One student was taken to Cooper Hospital by ambulance after reporting head and rib pain. 

The crash is under investigation by the Medford Township Police Department Traffic Unit.
